This week is Art Scilly Week – check out the link at www.simplyscilly.co.uk under ‘Things to do' for details on all the events and classes on offer. Brochures are also available at the Tourist Information Centre on St Mary's and at the Conservatory Hub at Tregarthen's Hotel. Events include exhibitions of arts and crafts across the islands and the chance to get involved to learn new skills in bookbinding, sketching, painting, jewellery or fused glass. At Print Scilly I'm running linocut workshops Sunday 8 th and again on Friday 13 th 10-1pm. Give me a call on 07900 933683 if you fancy having a go – no experience required just enthusiasm!

New work for 2011

In the meantime I have been away from the islands much of the year so far. Firstly from January to March I was in Bristol at Spike Print Studio www.spikeprintstudio.org honing my screen printing skills ready for some new lines this summer. I plan to add my new work from there to the gallery page in the next few days.

Then from late March to the beginning of May I travelled on the Atlantic Odyssey, an expedition cruise from Antarctica to Ascension Island via South Georgia, Tristan da Cunha and St. Helena, which was the most amazing trip ever! I have lots of ideas for new prints as a result – so expect images of albatross, penguin, prion and other non-Scilly species over the coming weeks.
